16 schools, 5 months, 4am starts and 1 ‘Our Town’ publication later

I am really excited to finally be able to share the work I have done with Creative Education Trust in 2022.

Released earlier this week was their publication ‘Our Town’ which celebrates the diverse and vibrant communities of the Trust.

The aim of the commission was to capture the Trust’s new initiative in action.

“In 2021 Creative Education Trust’s board agreed on a new initiative, the Our Town Community Fund, which would provide support to communities following the disruption of the pandemic. Each school was invited to bid for up to £7,000 for a student-led project that delivers benefits to the community beyond the school. It had to meet certain criteria around sustainability, learning, creative skills, and inclusivity.”

It was a really special commission being asked to document a large range of student-led social action projects that engage and work with their local communities, and impressive to see such a wide range of projects.

Some chose to support mental health and wellbeing, others chose to promote allyship and equality, some tackled loneliness and social isolation whilst others sought to protect the environment and help address food poverty.

An inspiring project to work on, with a few creative curveballs which kept me on my toes! Huge thanks to the team at the Trust for trusting me to produce this work and also to Vincent Design whose design work beautifully brought it all together to create the ‘Our Town’ publication.
